Influent Fine Screen
Pre-Startup Checks  
  1. Ensure the E-stop is not depressed.
  2. Ensure the washer compactor below the screen to start up is ready to receive screenings.
  3. Check that power is on to the screen at the local control panel.
  4. Check that the spray water isolation valves are open.
  5. Verify the level monitoring sensors are powered and functioning normally.
Place Unit Into Service
  1. Open the upstream and downstream channel isolation gates.
  2. At the local control panel turn the "Local/Off/Remote" switch to Local.
  3. At the local Operator Station, place the "Screen Wash Water Open/Close/Auto" switch into Open.
  4. At the local Operator Station, place the "Screen Slow/Off/Fast" switch into Slow and verify system operates as expected. See additional local control information in the Controls section of this manual.
  5. Observe the screen operation for one cleaning cycle, check for proper operation.
  6. Verify spray water solenoid valves are functioning properly by putting in Hand position.
SCADA Operation
  1. At the local control panel, turn the "Local/Off/Remote" switch to Remote.
  2. At the local Operator Station, turn Screen Washwater switch to the Auto position.
  3. Verify screen cycles on and off, based upon level in the upstream side or high differential level.  See additional automatic control information in the Controls section of this manual.
Take Unit Out of Service
  1. Close the upstream isolation gate.
  2. Select Open position for the Screen Washwater switch.
  3. Select Local control at the local panel and run the screen in slow speed for 10 minutes to clean screen.
  4. Turn both the washwater and the screen off.
  5. Close the downstream isolation gate.
  6. Shut off all power to the unit and lock it out.
  7. If the screen will be out of service for an extended time, wash the screen with a pressure washer.  
Screenings Washer Compactor 
Pre-Startup Checks  
  1. Ensure the E-stop is not depressed.
  2. Check that control power is on to the unit at the local control panel.
  3. Check that the spray water isolation valves are open.
  4. Check that no large objects have fallen into the screenings hopper.
  5. Ensure a screenings dumpster is located below the discharge chute. 
Place Unit Into Service
  1. Verify the Spiral Rev/Off/For switch is in the Forward position at the local Operator Station.
  2. At the local station, turn the Spiral Hand/Off/Auto switch to Hand and the Agitator Hand/Off/Auto switch to Hand and verify the system operates as expected. See additional local control information in the Controls section of this manual.  
  3. Turn the wash water solenoid valves to hand and verify the sprays are functioning properly.
SCADA Operation
  1. At the local Operator Station, turn the Spiral Hand/Off/Auto switch to Auto.
  2. Verify the Spiral Rev/Off/For switch is in Forward.
  3. Select the Auto position for the Agitator switch.
  4. Select the Auto position for the Washwater OCA switch.
  5. Verify the Washer Compactor starts when the screenings in the hopper reach the start level and that the compactor cycles as expected. See additional automatic control information in the Controls section of this manual.
Take Unit Out of Service
  1. Ensure the associated screen is taken out of service, locked out, and cleaned prior to removing the washer compactor from service.
  2. Operate the washer compactor in hand to ensure all material is removed from the unit before securing. Leaving the compaction unit full of material may cause the material to harden and damage the device.
  3. Once the unit is clean, place all controls in the OFF position.
  4. Shut off all power to the unit and lock it out.
